There are just about 4 months left until I run the 1/2 marathon. The training is going well, I started lifting weights yesterday and am pretty sore today, but hopefully as I get use to it that will change.
Fundraising is going pretty well, but has sort of leveled off. So I am hoping that I can get people to talk to their friends, co-workers, families about possibly donating as little as $1.00 or as much as they can to Team Tiara to Benefit Girls on the Run.
Girls on the Run is an awesome program that teaches little girls about running as well as raises their self-esteem and educates them on bullying, gossip, drugs, being thankful, standing up for yourself, community service as well as other great lessons. The program culminates in a 5k that the girls run with other women from the community.
It teaches girls to feel good about their bodies and that they can run.
The money I raise will go to help keep the program running. It is a non-profit program with volunteer coaches.
Please help if you can.

Today's race was the culmination of the Girls on The Run season. I should have know going into it that I wouldn't really be running the race for me, but I didn't really think about it until this week. I was talking to the girls on Thursday and I asked them would they have someone to run with or would the like one of the coaches to run with them. It was cute that they wanted me to run with them. I won't go into another complete recap, but I will say that coaching is harder then I thought, and I think it was good for me to just say don't worry about your time just enjoy being there with the kids. I did my best at that and they both finished and had fun which is all that matters.
It is definitely something I am glad I took the time to do, and would do again and I'm glad that I am raising money for the organization.
That being said, I almost feel like I should have gone out for a run today after the run. I didn't, my allergies told me otherwise, I will be back on my training schedule tomorrow.
I have a few 5ks coming up, but mostly training for the 1/2.
It will be interesting to see how the training goes, once I don't have other obligations.
My weeks seem to fly by lately and so do my weekends. I am pretty busy again this weekend, I have a garage sale at my apartment complex tomorrow, the 5k on Sunday and hopefully some relaxing in there somewhere.
Next week is the last week for volunteering and the last week of my running training class as well. I am not sure what I will do with all of my free time.
I am hoping to read, run more and just relax. I may sign up for another running class for summer just to keep me on track, but one may not be offered.
My allergies are still driving me crazy and since I have to get up early to try to sell my junk to someone else , I guess that is all for now.

My mom is so fast she beat me in the 5k by over two minutes. She doesn't want me to post her time, but here is mine
Official Time
41:08
Garmin time : 41:04 and it says I went 3.25 miles.
So she is definitely faster then I am now. She was able to find our personal bests were back in November at the A2 turkey trot, mine was 38:18
How fast is she. She beat me at the 5k today, her second race in which she beat me. I did pretty well, although I know I didn't beat my previous race time, which is fine. I am glad I was able to run at all given my knee injury.
It has gotten better, but Thursday night I really wasn't sure I could walk let alone run.
Please visit my training blog for further information about the race. I will prehaps write more tomorrow.
This morning my mom and I ran in the smoke the turkey 5k. It was about 28 degrees this morning and really too cold to be running, but we went anyway. The race was about 15 minutes from my parent's house. We got there and there were way more people then we anticipated, over 800 racers.
It was very foggy, visability was about 1/4 mile tops. We both knew we weren't going to be our PB from the last race, it was just too cold.
The first mile pace was pretty decent, but it was cold and I got a calf cramp that I coudn't shake. We were running through a neighborhood and it was cute to see kids cheering on the parents, parents cheering on their kids etc. Second mile still decent time, but winded. Walking more then I wanted to. Couldn't get enough air in my lungs. My mom offered to just walk the rest, but I said no. I didn't want to give up.
Third mile, visability getting worse, runners who had finished doing their cool down pacing us in the other directions.Calf feeling better...then worse, ended up doing some sprints and then walking, couldn't keep a steady pace. Saw the finish, ran as fast as I could. Time 40:20 estimate.
I am glad I ran today, it was fun, even though it was hard.
PS. My mom was second in her age group she got a medal. I told her she should wear it today....I will take a picture later.
Race route and times to post later.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
This morning was the day of the Haunted Hustle that I have been looking forward to for quite sometime . My costume was ready, and I thought it was going to be fun.
I woke up this morning to find the temperature at cold and windy. The race was at the local high school about 2 miles away, so we didn't need to rush over, but I knew we had to get our packets and didn't want to feel rushed. Needless to say it was so cold that we sat in the car until about 15 minutes to race time. I had on a long sleeve shirt, my hello kitty hat and a sweatshirt jacket and capri running pants and I was freezing. I did get some compliments about my hat which was nice. I am not a big fan of porta -potties, but used one before the race because the cold weather made me feel like I had to.
The race finally started. There were a bunch of little girls running the race for Girls on the run and they were really cute. I think it would have been more fun if it wasn't so cold and muddy. The mud was so bad that you had to walk through parts to avoid falling. The race was too laps, the first lap I really was just struggling not to fall in the mud, and to not think about the fact that I felt like i was going to pee my pants it was so cold. Luckily on the round about to begin the second loop I dashed in and out of the port a potty. The second lap wasn't as bad, but it was even more muddy from all the people. I got lapped as did most people by the speedy lead runners. It was fun to run among girls who were running for the first time. I finished the race in about 42 minutes, a bit slow for me , but not bad considering the cold.
I didn't realize how muddy I really was until I got into the car. I had mud all over my legs, and my shoes were caked it in it. The picture is coming soon.
It is really cold here today. We even have snow on the ground. I am very glad its Friday today. I am really in need of a long weekend.
In other good news my clothes for my costume should arrive today barring any mix up with UPS.
I hope to go to the gym today for the first time this week. My husband has been too tired to go the rest of the week.
The 5k is Sunday morning and I hope it is warmer by then.
For dinner or brunch on Sunday we plan to go to the place we had our rehersal dinner, which is funny since it will be the same day two years ago we were there.
On our anniversary we are planning on a trip to IKEA. Woohoo.
I am going to do a race around halloween that you can wear a costume for. I think I am going to dress up like hello kitty. I have a pink shirt and a running skort and I think I have a friend who can make me this hat or one like it.
I think that will be cute costume. Unless I get white pants of somesort.
