You know as a kid or even as an adult as you count down the days for something and time seems to crawl. Thats how this pregnancy felt in the beginning. 40 weeks always seemed so long, but now that I am almost down to 7 weeks, it seems as thought time is flying. Similar to when you are vacation and suddenly it is over.
Not that i'm not excited to see my baby, its just the whole getting to that part that kind of freaks me out. I know I will figure it all out and all will be well, but its just the great unknown that tends to cause my nervousness. Its like doing anything new for the first time, although this one comes with a baby at the end.
Not sure if I am making any sense or not.
I am starting to tire of the question "So how are you?" from people I know don't want to hear the answer mostly people I work with or am aquaintances The short answer I am fine. I think they want me to complain and I have very few of them .
I actually am surprised that I enjoy being pregnant. My only complaints are the inability to sleep through the night and occasional acid reflux/heartburn. I've heard people complain about the baby moving too much, but that's silly I like trying to figure out what he is doing there.
Next weekend is my shower and my work shower is after that, that is exciting. I'm just really in shock that time seems to be flying.
Thanks for listening to my ramble.
ok maybe that is an exaggeration, but I just had a realization that there is 11 weeks until my due date. Where has the time gone? I remember thinking 40 weeks that is forever and now it is almost time.
I feel much better now that the nursery is taking shape. Thanks again Mom for helping me paint and Mom and Dad for the bassinet. At least the baby has something to sleep in. I am doing good on clothes, although i can't resist looking at them in the store. I know that the rest of the stuff I need will fall into place with my shower in March and my work shower which I think is being planned. Its all HUSH HUSH.
We did the hospital tour last week and it went well. I was the only woman who didn't look like she was about to explode. I guess I would prefer to go early rather then later. A ton of my questions got answered and I got to see what the rooms look like etc. And made sure we know where to go so we don't get lost , which is important.
We also toured a day care this past week as well. It was nice , I just feel overwhelmed though with alot to think about in that area. Still waiting to hear a final decision from work about working from home a couple days a week. I should be able to convince them of one day a week since it there is already a presedent in our office, but I am get push back on the second day. We shall see.
28 week appt went well, baby is still very active, blood pressure is good, haven't gained a ton of weight so that is good. I am having more trouble sleeping, It takes awhile to get to sleep, but once I am sleeping I am ok, until I wake up having to use the bathroom or because the baby is lodged against my ribs. That isn't so much fun.
I did manage to take a 2.5 hour nap today. I didn't mean to sleep that long, but it felt good.
This week we are interviewing a pediatrician and we also are going work on finalizing a name or at least narrowing it down to a few rather then a short list.
I feel like we are getting things done, but time feels like it is flying by and I just hope we are ready.
Today my mom and I painted the nursery. The color is called Cabbage Leaf. It looks a lot prettier then cabbage though. In addition to painting we also assembled the bassinet
and hung the valance and wooden letters and numbers. The room is starting to look like a baby room
Here is the the closet with everything in it. There are more clothes, but my mom took them home to wash. These are the clothes from my sister.
So after much reading and debating in my head, I decided to give the baby sling thing a try. The one I liked the best, the one I thought would be easiest for me to use is the hotsling. It is more a baby pouch then sling and it looks easy to use for small babies which is what i wanted, not necessarily for a toddler use.
I liked the fact that they weren't as expensive as the other options and they seemed fashionable. I bid on one on ebay in hopes of getting one for cheaper then $48.00, but was out bid.
I had found another store though that offered retired fabrics, obvioulsy fabrics from a previous season on clearance for much less. The catch is that they aren't returnable, but since I got a reversible sling for 30.00 including shipping, I am willing to sell it on ebay or something if it doesn't work out.
Here is the one I got. It is the blooming blossom fabric and reverses to black.
Today the hubby and I set off to the land of ikea in an attempt to find a dresser for babies room. I had hoped to find one pre-assembled somewhere, but since we had no luck, i set out to find one to put together.
We settled on one we liked and headed home. Despite my mom's suggestion that I not put it together tonight, I decided to give it a try.
I will spare you the numerous swears and frustrations, but lets just say that it was not as easy as i thought to put together. Two hours later I have finally finished. There are a few cosmetic issues, but nothing I can't live with and now I have place to put baby clothes and I can mark that off my list of things I need to do.
Below are pictures of the pieces and the finished product.
I promise not to take pictures of everything I buy or am given, but most of these are by request
So they are from left to right
Sweater and cordoroys from a friend at work, Santa hat purchased at Target on clearance, 2 photos of a football onesie I bought for my husband. It says Shhh I am watching the game with Dad!!! and finally the two pair of babylegs.
So this was the scheduled weekend to register. A bit on the early side since I'm not due until April, but with the holidays, the winter weather, the multiply registering inquires already coming our way, we decided to go early.
Keep in my mind that I had already read up and done research. I had already started the target registery online, but due to incentives that I couldn't pass up and a need to physically see the things I was registering for, we headed out to Babysrus yesterday.
My hubby hates shopping and I must say for the most part he did a really good job. He wanted to register for everything and I had to keep saying oh we don't need that or oh i registered at target for that.
We spent an hour in the store and tackled most of the major things. I freaked out at finding the right crib and mattress, too many choices, and we gave up on the diaperbag selection in store.
The process went pretty smoothly instore, and we got our $10.00 gift certificate and free samples for registering instore.
We then proceeded to target to add just a few items that I still hadn't decided on, namely a diaperbag. After doing babysrus, I must say that the system at target is much nicer.
After a trip to a craft store for nursery project and to dinner, I headed home to look at the registry online and delete a few things we had added but didn't want them.
Imagine my dismay when I couldn't login, turns out the associate at Babysrus put everything in caps. UGH.
Once I logged in, I realized that a few of the major things didn't scan. No car seat, no breast pump.
Needless to say I spend the rest of my night trying to fix things. I still don't know that its prefect, but I guess it is good enough for now.
If any moms or educated adults out there notice something I didn't register for please let me know.
Today was a very good day. My good friend B and her baby Katie came to play with me. We were celebrating both of our birthdays. It was fun to see Katie, who I haven't seen since she was very tiny. She has grown into quite the little lady. She is very adoreable and has a great personality. Her mom is very patient with her and a great mommy all around. We went shopping and they helped me find a new skirt for a work event I have this week. We also managed to get Katie some cute new shoes. Katie was such an angel during the whole trip. I learned all about putting car seats in and out of the car, which will come in handy some day. After shopping we came back to my apartment where Katie got to explore the Hello kitty bedroom. Her mommy and I split cupcakes from Hillers. Yum. We also exchanged gifts. I got some really cool stuff for scrapbooking, which will be fun to use. This was definitely a great start to my birthday weekend. (ps. there is a photo for friends and family if you login ...well worth it)
