I am not normally someone who returns gifts after Christmas. As long as the item fits or isn't broken, even if it isn't my taste I usually keep it.
That being said, I made my first major return of a Christmas present today. This would probably not even usually warrant mention on my blog, if it weren't for the fact the item I am returning is from my husband's Grandmother( my grandmother in law I guess).
You see my inlaws usually buy me something expensive for Christmas. In previous years I have gotten a coach purse, an ipod, gold earrings, etc.
I know they consider me hard to shop for so every year I make them a list of things I really want. I asked for an Ipod stereo, a hello kitty tv, workout clothes, and here is where my mistake occured. I asked for a purse. You see I think purse, I think small bag, costing under 50.00.
They of course think extragant for some reason. So I got a gift card from my mother in law and this purse from his grandmother.
My husband on the other hand got cologne and renewal to a sports newspaper which he gets every year. and thats it.
I felt bad. I felt guilty. and mostly I felt like what am I going to do with yet another coach purse. I love purses, but I don't have a need for a super fancy purse. And as mentioned above, they got me a coach purse before, three years ago, that is still in style and in good shape.
I really wanted to return this bag once I saw the retail price. It was way too much and all I kept thinking was I could think of way more things to spend that kind of money on.
I asked my husband, and he wasn't keen on the idea, but finally agreed to let me return it, which I did today.
I had to go to the mall for a follow up to my eye exam and so I thought I would do both things today.
I had such fun shopping and spending the money.
Below are some pictures of my purchases. I got an adidas jacket, work out capris, two pair of workout shorts, a watch (it looks like a bracelet then opens to watch), and two tops for work (not pictured). Everything I bought was on sale or clearance, which means i still have almost 40.00 left on a gift card. I am much more happy with these items then I would have been if I kept the purse.
I forgot to mention in my earlier entry that I am feeling much better. After helping my mom clean up at the cottage, we headed back to my parents house and I enjoyed my first full meal in days. I didn't realize how hungry I was.
Things have been going well other then being sick. I got some cool Christmas presents, I have more to open at home from the inlaws. I feel slightly guilty about missing the inlaw gift exchange, but since it usually runs way into the night Christmas day, I am almost glad I didn't have to go.
I have been enjoying spending time with my sisters, parents and nephews.
Christmas is over and I survived. I usually love Christmas and this year was no different, except for the fact that I was sick this year. I got sick with stomach pains christmas eve. I would compare it to someone ringing out my my stomach like towels. I spent most of Christmas eve in pain, and most of Christmas morning in pain as well. I woke up at 6 am with my nephews to watch them open presents, and then went back to bed without even opening my presents at all. I woke up at 11 and opened my presents. After that, I spent a few hours debating what to do since i was still not feeling well, but the Hubby and I were supposed to leave to go to his families christmas celebration. I ended up not going and staying at my parents an extra couple of days. My christmas presents and most everything else went back home with my hubby.
The only good that came out of being sick I suppose was spending more time with my family specifically my nephews.
It is almost 10 am here. I am at work, along with 2 other people . I had to be here before 8 so phone lines could be open at 8am. In my pedestrian filled college town, there were no other pedestrians out this morning. They have all gone home. It was very foggy and slightly errie.
I have been very productive this morning , doing work of those on vacation who I don't even really like. I am being a good samariatan. Must be the Christmas spirit or sheer boredom.
I am tired. I didn't go to bed until 12:30, UPS came last night and that meant I had 15 presents to wrap and I still had to finish packing. We are hopefully leaving tonight for my parents.
We opened our Christmas presents last night. I know I know its not Christmas, but we usually exchange gifts on the 23rd and we won't be here then. or tonight really either so last night it was.
I got a lot of cool hello kitty items, a nike workout outfit and the new Milkman line from Philosophy. It smells just like chocolate.
Here I am back at work. Taking a day off mid week was a bad idea because now I am really not in the mood to be here. I am working a full day tomorrow as well.
That being said, I really did have fun yesterday. My nephews are getting so big. The little one is now talking very clearly and is just funny. My older nephew, the 4 year old, is really a little boy now and not a baby at all, he can read and spell, and is smart as a whip.
My mom had already made the cookies, in the middle of the night, silly mom.
So I played and played and watched spongebob and went outside and played some more.
I had gotten my new ELMO yesterday and he was a big hit with the little people and the adults as well.
So now just two more days and it will be break. I am hoping the rest of my christmas presents arrive tonight so we can leave tomorrow evening, but we shall see. I still need to pack and wrap presents .
Update - Glasses are in and can pick up tonight.
One package has been delivered the other is enroute. May be able to leave tomorrow night after work. YAY
I have alway been a big fan of Christmas, but for some reason this year, it doesn't really feel like Christmas yet. The tree is up and decorated, and I even have some presents under the tree already, but for some reason I am not feeling very Christmasy yet. I think it may have to do with the fact that is 40 and raining and that I will be working until the 22nd. I hope that the Christmas shopping I plan to do on Friday puts me in the mood.
I did go to two holiday parties yesterday, which were fun. The first was work sponsored so it was a Holiday party, and it had a theme so it seemed nothing like a Christmas party. The second was at a hotel and there was a nutcracker theme. I ate good food at both. Chocolate dipped pineapples are the best. I know they sound weird, but they are yummy
I actually have been trying to take it easy today, I did some household shredding and filing, worked on some web riddles, they are way too addictive.
My husband got home from work at 11am, which was nice. He actually took the laundry downstairs and brought it back up again clean ..woo hoo. I did have to fold, but better then trugging up and down the stairs.
We went to see another movie today. We saw the Guardian at the dollar show, it was decent for 2.00 total. I've seen 3 movies in less then 4 days...I think my sister and I have switched personalities. She has finished her christmas shopping and I haven't.
I did wrap a few christmas presents today, and add a few more items to my amazon cart. Just waiting for the money to come in to click order.
Tomorrow will be a lazy Sunday morning since I won't be running.. Maybe breakfast and a walk. Then to the inlaws we go.
My tree is up. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to put it up until next weekend at the earliest but J-Liz (the 11 year old inlaw's new nickname) decided she was willing to help.
So the tree got put up and decorated and 3 loads of laundry got washed, dryed, folded and put away. I am also almost packed for my trip tomorrow.
Prehaps I have too many hello kitty Ornaments?
Its time for me to make a list of what I want for my birthday (so my hubby can by my present before next Monday) and also to make my christmas list for my mom, my husband and my inlaws. I really should write down things i want through the year so it doesn't come to me trying to remember what it is I wanted all year long.
