Ok not really, but given recent comments of "loud walking" maybe I should be. I am still peeved by the whole situation. I have started to look at new apartments at least to see what else is out there.
My boss leaves on Friday, so I am waiting for the final shakeout of who does what in the office now that someone is moving into his position leaving us 2 positions short again. I have the potential to benefit from this or get screwed over. We will await the outcome.
Was going to run at the gym this morning, but ended up doing a home workout tape this morning. (sure my neighbors enjoyed that). Running outside was not an option as the temperature was 7 this am and is only 18 now. I hope to run at the gym tomorrow morning.
In other news, I did manage to work out 6 of the 7 days last week for a total of 250 minutes last week.
Yesterday I did two workouts, one walking at midday at the gym, and then cardio afterwork at the gym.
Today I went back to work, I know I should be grateful for having a long break, and I am , I just wish it was longer. Being sick for half of break ruined most of my ability to relax.
Luckily the work day went by quickly, and tomorrow I am off. I get to hangout with my nephews one last time before they head home. They are coming up to visit me for a change which means they get to see the hello kitty room. I hope it lives up to the hype.
In other news I am making cupcakes. Surely this is not part of my new years resolution to lose more weight, but the hubby and I decided cupcakes once and awhile can't hurt.
I got cupcake mix for 42 cents. It is holiday funfetti...little did I know that the funfetti is optional. I should have bought more.
In real news related to resolutions, I have signed up for an 8k in March. Hopefully my sister and mom will sign up as well.
I also went back to the gym today after a holiday hiatus. I did 15 minutes on the elliptic and 15 walking on the treadmill. I am trying to switch things up to avoid aggravating the hip pain.
I haven't been to the gym since last Tuesday and although I have been restricted from any strenuous exercise, I felt like I needed to go to the gym.
Of course walking on the treadmill isn't much fun. I was reading and listening to music so that helped some. I didn't go to fast, but even so about 20 minutes in had to stop due to the resurgence of pain. I tried the eliptical to see if a different motion would help, but no dice. I had to stop for today.
So I think my new fitness plan is to get in a couple mini workouts 15-20 ones a day, until I am able to go longer without pain.
Exciting times huh.
So I am still getting aquainted with my new garmin. I have downloaded the software called sporttracks and it produces the map of your run and also does your splits and everything for you. I have noticed one glitch that it says I went about .1 of a mile longer then I did. Not a big difference, but kind of weird. I can easily auto adjust the distance by clicking a button, but my split times are then a little less accurate. I figure it doesn't make a ton of difference.
This morning we ran for 2.1 miles, I really need to start eatting better. I have been eatting like crap until yesterday and it shows in my lack of stamina when running. It was a beautiful morning. The sun came out while we were running and the temperature was about 50. I just wish I could run without feeling like I was going to be out of breath or out of energy.
My sister has emailed me some races that look fun, but I really need to build up my endurance since they are longer then I am used to.
I guess it is a good goal for next year.
That being said I am cutting down on the amount of junk I am eatting and am going to try to work out more. We are doing pretty well this week. Gym yesterday, Ran today...if we can keep this up I will be back on track.
Today I went to the gym at 6:30 in the morning.I am by no means a morning person, but the gym is less crowded in the morning and I feel some sense of accomplishment working out before going to work. It was a quick workout, 30 minutes. I did the Elliptical again. I can't make myself run on the treadmill, as long as I can run outside I will avoid it.
I did the hill climber setting. Which was fine, but I was trying to read and when I hit the really high hills I had to stop because I couldn't concentrate on both. I am really enjoying this book so far.
Last night, after voting, we made it back to the gym. We hadn't been in over a week so I am glad we went. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical. My husband laughs at me because I listen to music and read while on the elliptical. I like multitasking I guess. Last night the time flew by as I was reading a new book from the library. I had just picked it up on the way to the gym. It is called Memory Keeper's Daughter. I didn't get very far, but it looks to be a good read.
This morning, since it was so nice outside , we decided to run outside. We went for a 2sh mile run. The warmer air was good on my lungs. My legs were a bit tired on the way back , but overall it felt good. My time was comparable with my other runs.
I have another race this weekend, I hope the weather is decent.
honestly nothing much is new. Its cold here so I didn't run this morning, which is probably for the best so I can rest my hip one more day. I will try to run tomorrow or Thursday. I hope to do at least 2 -3 days a week again.
I did make it to the gym today for 25 minutes so at least that is something.I read in runner's world that for every 1 lb of body weight you add to your body that is 4 lbs of weight on your knees when walking and 25 lbs when running.
If anything would motivate me to lose more weight that would be it. I would l really like to lose about 4 lbs before my birthday in 3 weeks. Then I would like to be back on track losing for awhile. If I could lose 30 more pds after the 4 I would be happy. Shoot if i could lose 10-15 more I would be estatic.
Anyway it is really cold here and I need to find some more warm weather clothes. Today its a long sleeve shirt, skirt, tights and a jacket that isn't warm enough. At least I look cute though.
My two year wedding anniverary is in less then 2 weeks. I am taking the day off. I think (hope) we are going to IKEA that day.
Game 3 of the World Series is tonight Go Tigers.
Still not running although my hip is feeling much better, I didn't go to the gym last night, but managed to get up and go this morning. Did the Elliptical and I felt fine so the plan is to work out at the gym the rest of the week and then evaluate and possibly start running again this weekend or next week.
I miss running. I hope I am able to do a race in November.
I am also trying to get back on track with eatting. It is so hard to make myself eat healthy. I get on a roll and then fall off the wagon.
I am tired today. Stayed up too late watching the Tigers. GO DETROIT. I am really enjoying watching baseball. I used watch baseball regularily, but haven't in recent years.
I also watched LOST last night and am looking for someone to discuss it with .
I did manage to make it to the gym yesterday, which is an improvement. My husband laughs at me because I read and listen to music while working out. He wanted to know how I could concentrate on all three things. I must be multi-talented. I admit that I read slower though on the elliptical because it is hard to hold my book and workout.
Today I hope to run, if it isn't super cold tonight.
Now that my injury is starting to heal and is a little less painful, I can now take the time to realize its not the end of the wor'd. Thanks to the comments , I am able to realize I could have easily given up and called it a day. I looked at th course map and realized that the fall happened at the 1.7 mile mark, so a little over half way there and that had I wanted to I could have turned the other way and ended with the walkers in a pretty fast time.
I now have a feeling like the wound is my badge of courage or at least a symbol that I am a real runner. and a trail runner no less.
I am not sure as of yet what race I will do next, there is a possibilty to do a race at the end of the month, but if that doesn't happen I hope to at least do one in early November.
I realize I need to get back on track eatting wise and also going back to the gym. We have been slacking these last few weeks with the wedding and what not.
Speaking of weddings , how glad am i that I didn't have this injury the week of the wedding. Wouldn't have been too pretty for the pictures.
