So I neglected my blog today, too busy at work trying to finish up things before the out of town trip. Have company this evening. My 11 year old sister in law (she needs a nickname) and I went to the women's basketball game tonight. The game was really fun and close, we almost beat the IRISH. It was just her and I and realize that it is fun having a little sister around to do things with. The game was reminscent of when my sister and I used to go to the women's games before she moved to Chicago. Its not quite the same, but I enjoy spending time with my new little sister and I suppose she will do until I am able to spend time with my real little sister.
After the game was autograph night, now the women's team has never been as popular as the men's team, but it was good to see a crowd waiting around for autographs and to see the team. I don't understand though how parents are so rude to encourage their kids to cut in front of people to get in line for something that is free and open to everyone. Luckily J was polite and said thank you to the girls and was really cute. I think she had a really good time.
We got a free poster, free balloon, and free temporary tattoos. The only thing that would have been better would have been if they won...they lost by 2 pts.
In other news we are finally getting the snow that everyone else has been talking about, no accumulation yet though. J is spending the night anyway , its just easier that way. Tomorrow I am off to do some charity christmas shopping then packing and laundry or vice versa.
I heard they are expecting 6 inches of snow where I am going. Prehaps I can break out my pink snowboots.
4.5 Hours to game time and although the game is in Columbus you would never know it from the hussle and bussle already here. I went for a run this morning and the local bar was already getting ready for the game, all the people out and about had michigan gear on.
It is still quite somber around here, all the local news is covering Bo's death, and its impact. I heard there was a vigil last night, had I known I would have probably gone.
Debating if I can get out of work on Tuesday to attend the memorial they are planning at the stadium.
Go BLUE
As for my run, I felt pretty slow today, still tired from working too much this week. I also ate a bunch of crap at the conference , which doesn't help. I did enjoy my garmin though.
Signed up for a race on Thanksgiving day with my mom. It should be fun.
I just got home from the Michigan Basketball game. We beat Harvard. It wasn't much of a competition, but it was fun to go. It was a bit sad as well, as everyone is of course discussing the death of Bo and rightfully so. I am actually glad that the local news is discussing that rather then hyping the game, as he was/is an important figure in michigan.
I hope the Maize n Blue beat the stupid Buckeyes tomorrow. For me, for Bo and for every Michigan fan I know.
As a kid growing up near the Michigan/Ohio border, I understand the Michigan vs. Ohio State rivarly. We had Michigan/Ohio state day the day before the game, and it was usually split 50/50 who was wearing Michigan and who was supporting Ohio. I always disliked the Ohio State fan teachers just a little more that day.
Bo Schembechler died today. The only good that could come of it is that we will have one very important angel looking down on the michigan team tomorrow.
So of course the hype around here about the game on Friday has been crazy and getting crazier. Everywhere you go, someone is talking about the game.
I found out my husband is in the new pictures of the proposed stadium. The picture has been in all the local papers. How funny
So I did as promised, no running. My hip is doing ok. Still occasionally sore. I may try the Elliptical Machine tonight we shall see.
Busy weekend. Here are the highlights
Going to Disney on Ice last minute for free with the inlaws, it was fun. (SEE PHOTO ABOVE)
Tigers winning the ALCS
Michigan Beating Penn State (and Auburn beating Florida)
I had to work Sunday afternoon so that cut my weekend short.
I heard about the earthquake in Hawaii while working, luckily my sister and her husband were able to make it off the islands and back home from their honeymoon.
Today is a good sports day.
The Tigers beat the Yankees to clitch the series and move on to the ALCS.
It was fun to watch the footage from downtown and see all the fans and players excited about baseball. I can remember when the Tigers won the world series in 1984 and it is exciting to see them doing well.
In football news, Michigan beat Micihigan State. GO BLUE!!!! I am really glad we won, I really don't like the Spartans.
